MILAN RAI - VISIONARY ENTREPREUNER FROM WEST SIKKM

Mr. Milan Rai Director, CIIT EDUCATION & PLACEMENT based at Soreng ,West Sikkim is from Upper Dodak, Gumpadara, West Sikkim is the eldest Son of Shri Harka Maya Rai and Smt. Harka Maya Rai, his Father by Profession is in Indian Army at 11 GR, now he is retired as a Junior Commission Officer. He is survived with 4 members in his family except his parents, 2 younger Sister, one is practicing as Lawyer after her LAW graduate and younger one is doing LLM and 1 younger brother had also completed Bachelor degree in Computer Application.

After the completion of graduation in Information Technology at the age of around 22 years, the great motivated speech of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. P. K. Chamling – “to be self employed and be an Employer instead of searching for the employment.” Is the ultimate inspiring word in his carrier which really turns his dreams towards self-entrepreneurship . So, he choose to go toward the distracted track, instead of go through traditional track:(Xerox – Attested – Application – Recommendation then interview and again repeat same...)

With a innovative and constructive thinking to do something new and creative for the youth of society, he had created a group of few educated unemployed youth of Society and formed CIIT Education group,   through which he had started a Computer Institute at Soreng with aims and motives to spread the knowledge of New Technology at rural and remote place of Sikkim at very affordable rate which can offered by all class of people.

During 2000-2001 there was only few Computer Training Institute at Capital City–Gangtok and Siliguri only. So, most of the lower and middle classes people from rural area are totally unknown to IT sector, they even not seen any computer peripheral. It was a very top challenge for his group to set IT Business at remote place like West Sikkim, but he choose West Sikkim as my first battle field instead of choosing big city like Gangtok and Namchi, The West Sikkim was totally unaware about computer education and its advantage, so it is very necessary to promote I.T. and conduct I.T. awareness programme here.

  • He introduced the computer education in entire west Sikkim for the first time,
  • He did many IT awareness campaign and demonstration programme at different School of West Sikkim,
  • He had conducted free camp for carrier counselling for new courses /scheme as per the demand of present market.
  • His centre also conducts 100% free sponsored for physically challenge, orphanage and BPL category student at our institute.

Mr. Milan Rai in his Office
As the motives to established I.T. business is not only to earn livelihood for him and for his colleague staff, but he also wants to provide such an education system to rural student so that they can compete with those student from big and renown school of urban and city area.

Now got his own branches at Soreng, Kaluk, Gyalshing and Ravangla and new one also very opening shortly. In his 12 years of the establishment of CIIT Education & Placement he had faced many hurdles. But he overcome the glitches with faith on hard work and self-confidence.

During the initial period of the establishment of his business, his Family member especially his Father and Mother was only hope to fulfil his dream. At that time there was no any scheme for unemployed / self-employed like nowadays, banks were also not ready to take risk on unemployed person. He thanks to God for having such great parents, they trust on him and his capability and given him financial, mental and physical support and encouraged him to be self-employed. They support whole heartily, financially and physically, and never force him to go for any govt. job.

While talking about the future plan, - He always remember the quote that - We can't change the direction of the wind, but obviously can adjust the sails to reach our destination. The Information Technology Sector is such an emerging sector in the world that the market trends are changing day by day as per the demand of market. He thinks there is good scope in the field of software development and system support, he is planning to go for Software Development sector in the coming future. His dream is to establish a distinctive software corporation with new trends and innovation in Sikkim and provide the opportunity for young and creative new generation youth.

Being in I.T. Field, his known -Ideal person is –the present Lok Shaba MP of Sikkim, Shri Prem. Das. Rai, who is the first “IIT, IIM” - MP at Indian Parliament and former Managing Director of Sikkim Computer & System Pvt. Ltd.

HIS MESSAGE TO YOUTHS

Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible. So, If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much…!!!

Infuse your life with action. Don't wait for it to happen.
Make it happen.
Make your own future.
Make your own hope.
And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator,
not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high,
but by doing what you can to make grace happen...
yourself, right now, right down here on Earth…
